  3. Willow Creek Mine

In October 2011, AuRico Gold contracted Ledcor to develop and operate the Young-Davidson open-pit gold mine in northern Ontario. Pre-production development started with the first blast in November 2011, and the services Ledcor is providing include:

  • Pre-site development and construction
  • Open-pit planning and development
  • Stripping
  • Blasting
  • Ore extraction and crushing
  • Haul/Access road construction
  • Maintenance

Since Ledcor has begun operations in October of 2011, over 615,000 hours have passed with a Total Recordable Incident Frequency (TRIF) of 0.97, including several successful gold flag audits.

The mine will have a 15-year life and will produce 180,000 ounces of gold annually. The open pit operations will deliver ore feed to the 6,000-ton-per-day processing mill.
