The Willow Creek Mine is an open-pit metallurgical and Pulverized Coal Injected (PCI) coal mine located in northeastern British Columbia near the town of Chetwynd.
Ledcor undertook mine planning, engineering, development, and mining operations related to the area’s significant coal deposits. The project scope of work included pit development, mining, coal delivery to the Run-of-Mine (ROM) or to designated stockpiles, 7.2 km coal haul road construction, and infrastructure construction including mine maintenance facilities, mine engineering, short-range planning/design, and the transition of mine to the client.
Ledcor worked on Willow Creek Mine, carrying out mining operations related to the area’s significant coal deposits. During this project, Ledcor focused on providing sub-contracting opportunities to Indigenous businesses in the area. We worked with several West Moberly Indigenous-owned companies including IPaC (Survey Work), Dunne Za Ventures (Earthworks/Construction), and 4 Evergreen Resources (Logging Operations). We also worked with Duz Cho Construction, a McLeod Lake Indian Band-owned company, during the project.
