In collaboration with the Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC), Ledcor was awarded a contract to expand the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia.

Located 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Dease Lake, we constructed a new tailings impoundment saddle dam and raised an existing dam by 20 meters (66 feet).  The scope of the project entailed the preparation of materials from several borrow pits, which included crushing and screening on site for select materials.

To meet the design requirements, the work also involved sorting of the materials suitable for construction, loading, hauling, placing, compacting, and finishing approximately one million cubic meters of earth.

We also worked with TNDC to bring our award-winning training programs for health and safety to TNDC employees from the local community. This helped to ensure that the project was completed on schedule in September 2015 without any recordable first aids or lost-time incidents.
