Ledcor had contracted to further develop the Gibraltar Mine and relocated 27 million metric tons of waste material. This copper-molybdenum mine is the second largest open-pit copper mine in Canada, and the largest employer in BC’s massive Cariboo region.
Ledcor mobilized to the Gibraltar mine in late 2013 in preparation for the 20-month contract. In May of 2014, Ledcor was further awarded a scope of work to expand a subsequent phase of the Gibraltar mine. This included mine development and pioneering activities to move an additional 11 million tons of waste rock over a six-month period.
