The Ledcor-Haisla Limited Partnership (LHLP) was awarded the contract for the raw water line and effluent line scope of work. The project involved installing a raw water line to the Workforce Accommodation Centre (WAC) and an effluent line from the WAC to the jetty. The work included installing high density polyethylene, excavation, trenching and backfilling, dewatering, horizontal directional drilling with entrance casing, case boring, slip line pull through existing casings, shoring/trench boxes, live line hot tapping, hydro testing, and traffic control for the future Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export terminal.

Throughout the project, 850 lineal meters (lm) of piping planned for horizontal directional drilling required redesign due to poor subsurface conditions. The redesign consisted of a combination of additional open cuts, horizontal directional drilling, and slip line sections. Despite this obstacle, LHLP achieved the target completion date and completed the scope injury and incident-free.

This piping system was the first mechanically complete and fully operating system installed on the project.
