Ledcor’s Highway Construction team is twinning 46 km (29 mi) of Highway 3 from Taber to Burdett. This project marks the team's first design-build contract, representing a significant expansion into Southern Alberta's infrastructure development.
The project features the construction of an 8 km (5 mi) four-lane bypass around Grassy Lake and the installation of 11 new bridges. The team is also incorporating auxiliary lanes, intersection improvements, and dedicated rest area pullouts to enhance driver safety.
Executing a project of this scale requires precise coordination of massive material volumes and diverse construction scopes. The team is managing the placement of over 2.8 million cu. m. (3.6 million cu. yd.) of grading material and nearly 500,000 tonnes of asphalt.
This project is anticipated for completion in fall of 2026.
