The Canary District was home of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Athletes’ Village development, which utilized 14 hectares (35 acres) of an undeveloped section of West Don Lands. Ledcor formed a joint venture with EllisDon to construct the new facility, designed by an Integrated Design team.

True to Ledcor’s beliefs in sustainability and social responsibility, the project was built to LEED® Gold standards and generated and supported 5,200 jobs, 700 of which were in construction.

The project housed 10,000 athletes during the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. After The Games, the area transformed into a beautiful and sustainable mixed-use community called the Canary District. It features residential condominiums, affordable housing, George Brown College’s first student residence, and a new YMCA, as well as plenty of retail and restaurant space.
