CGC Drywall Manufacturing Plant

One of Canada’s most advanced wallboard manufacturing facilities, CGC Wheatland was built on a 215-acre greenfield site and combines raw material processing, board production, and storage systems that support continuous 24-hour operations. Key project elements included new rail infrastructure connecting directly to the CPKC main line, off-site utility tie-ins, roadway upgrades, a 220,000-square-foot primary manufacturing building, a rail loadout building, and a 50,000-square-foot fabric storage and handling building connected by conveyor systems.

A crucial aspect of the project was integrating owner-supplied process equipment, including approximately 300 sea containers of specialized equipment delivered from overseas and assembled on site. The plant also incorporates sustainability features such as an on-site solar field, a high-efficiency kiln that captures and recirculates water, and recycling of manufacturing by-products back into operations.
