The Northland Mall Redevelopment transformed a traditional mall into a dynamic multi-use site. Portions of the mall were demolished while others were refurbished and repurposed. A two-storey concrete and steel section was stripped to its core and fully renovated, now housing medical and retail spaces. Three additional sections were reconfigured as independent retail buildings, and the former mall’s central area was converted into a plaza including customer parking, additional green space, and a new pedestrian corridor.
Ledcor also built five new retail buildings on the site and provided various services and upgrades to four existing structures. Comprehensive site work included underground work, hardscaping, landscaping, and upgrades to the two-level parkade, all carried out while keeping operations running for existing tenants and minimizing disruption to patrons. In the initial phase, over 12,000 tonnes of demolition material were removed, with 79% recycled, advancing the project’s commitment to sustainability.
