Ledcor’s heavy civil and mining operations in the western U.S. continues to grow as we expand our footprint and secure three new contracts.

New Mining Projects

This year, our team has been awarded three new projects in Idaho and Nevada. Each site is entering the initial stages of development, and our teams will provide the specialized civil preparation required to help our clients move forward safely and steadily.

  • Borealis Mine (Hawthorne, Nevada): Ledcor will mine approximately 5.4 million tons of ore and waste. The scope of work includes drilling and blasting, hauling and backfilling waste, crushing ore, and placing material on the heap leach pad.
  • Rawhide Mine (Fallon, Nevada): Our teams will mine roughly 16 million tons of ore and waste using conventional open-pit mining methods. This project involves hauling ore to the crusher, moving waste to designated dump areas, and completing necessary drilling and blasting to maintain safe and steady operations.
  • Thompson Creek Mine (Challis, Idaho): Our team is responsible for pioneering and establishing a new phase of the mine. The scope of work includes hauling and placing non-mineral waste material using open-pit methods.

Comprehensive Service Offerings

These three projects are all examples of how Ledcor’s U.S. Heavy Civil and Mining team provides a diverse range of specialized services designed to meet the rigorous demands of the mining industry. These services include:

  • Heavy Civil Infrastructure: Expertise in earthworks, mass excavation, and complex underground utilities for public and private sector projects.
  • Comprehensive Mining Services: Support for the full mining lifecycle, including site preparation, mine development, contract mining, and reclamation.
  • Site Development: Precision grading, paving, and infrastructure installation for industrial and commercial sites.
