Ledcor Construction was recognized twice at this year's Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Awards of Excellence Gala.
The VRCA awards celebrate exceptional construction projects and people, specifically delivery, collaboration, innovation, and expertise, across British Columbia.
The Royal Centre Redevelopment, which modernized a landmark commercial tower in downtown Vancouver, won Gold in the General Contractor – Tenant Improvement – Over $30M category. This follows the Silver Award the project received in the same category in August.
Delivered in one of downtown Vancouver’s busiest locations, the Royal Centre Redevelopment was completed while maintaining full building occupancy and uninterrupted operations. The work included a reimagined lobby, upgraded retail spaces, enhanced plaza areas, and new tenant amenities, all completed through highly coordinated phasing, tenant communication, and rigorous safety and quality controls.
The BCIT Tall Timber Student Housing project team, who delivered the high-performance 12-storey mass timber building in Burnaby, also won, receiving an Outstanding Achievement Award for Zero Emissions Building Leadership.
The project provides 469 BCIT students with affordable on-campus housing while showcasing the future of building technology using local materials and sustainable systems, such as hot water demands delivered through energy-efficient air source heat pumps that use CO2 as their refrigerant.
Congratulations to both project teams on these well-deserved wins.
