Celebrating Over 30 Years of Support for BC Children's Hospital

Since 1988, Ledcor has been a proud supporter of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF), having donated over $7.2 million.

BC Children's Hospital is the province's only full-service acute care hospital and serves over one million children living in BC and the Yukon. The Hospital is a leading research facility and provides care for the most seriously ill or injured children and youth. All children who are referred to Children's Hospital are either treated at the hospital facility in Vancouver or in their home community in consultation with the Hospital’s specialists.

The most significant contribution to the BCCHF to date from Ledcor was in 2008, with a $5 million commitment to support the construction of the Teck Acute Care Centre.

After a decade in the making, the Teck Acute Care Centre at BC Children’s Hospital—complete with the Ledcor Emergency Room—opened its doors in October 2017, launching a new era of child health. The children of BC and the Yukon now have an innovative, state-of-the-art hospital to complement the outstanding care BC Children's Hospital has been long known for.

The Teck Acute Care Centre was thoughtfully built and designed to heal. Patients' and their families' entire journey of body, mind, and spirit have been planned in extraordinary detail throughout all of the Hospital’s facilities. Researchers at the Hospital also get a huge boost to advance personalized medicine projects—many that could transform cancer treatment, give hope to kids with rare diseases, and even prevent asthma for future generations.

Ledcor’s donations come from a combination of corporate gifts, personal pledges, fundraising events (like the Building for Kids Golf Tournament and Jeans Day), and local fundraising efforts through Ledcor’s annual company-wide employee campaign, Ledcor Cares. All employee funds are corporately matched, and in June 2018, employees presented $133,000 to the BCCHF in the 31st annual Miracle Weekend telethon.
