Ledcor Korol Cup Raises $58,300 for Scholarships

In its 15th year, Ledcor employees came together in Kelowna, BC, for the Ledcor Korol Cup, the company's annual hockey tournament held in late September. This year 106 players and 35 volunteers from across Ledcor and our partners, participated at the 3-day event, raising $58,300 for the Korol Endowment Funds offered at NAIT, SAIT and BCIT.

Team Red, led by captain Curtis Norton of Construction Edmonton, were the tournament champions!

Since 2008, we have raised $475,000 and awarded scholarships to 96 students through NAIT, SAIT, and BCIT.

History of the Korol Cup

The tournament began in 2005 as the first Western Region Hockey Challenge with four teams and 40 players, mostly from our Construction Group in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and the Gibraltar Mines. Since then, the tournament grew to include Toronto players and evolved into the Canadian Hockey Challenge.

In 2008, it assumed its current name the Ledcor Korol Cup, in honour of Trevor Korol, a young Ledcor employee who passed away in a tragic plane crash along with four others from our industry. Ledcor, in collaboration with Trevor's father Dave Korol, established a scholarship fund in Trevor's name.
