We are seeking a dynamic person for an opportunity as Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Manager in Saskatchewan.  This position will be ideally based out of our Regina office but would consider Saskatoon for the right individual. 
 
The Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Manager is integral to the establishment of a long-term safety culture and will lead a team of health and safety professionals to achieve the health and safety goals within the division's scope of work.  This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of the Saskatchewan Region and will work closely with and take work direction from the Division’s HS&E Director.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment, performance management and professional development of HS&E staff
  • Provide or arrange training and education to Ledcor employees in health and safety topics
  • Monitor health, safety and environmental protection compliance at the project level by conducting workplace inspections and audits
  • Provide advice on interpretation of local government requirements, OH&S regulations and codes
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities to promote safety and resolve any issues of non-compliance
  • Participate in the development of Project Specific Safety Programs for new projects
  • Ensure all HS&E documentation and records are collected and maintained in accordance with company operating practices
  • Represent Ledcor in client/consultant meetings related to HS&E
  • Participate on occupational health and safety committees
  • Provide direction on matters relating to injured worker claims and restricted work programs
  • Provide direction to project staff on the administration of Ledcor’s Drug & Alcohol program
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of relevant Health and Safety experience in the commercial construction industry, preferably in a managerial or senior supervisory role
  • Possession or pursuit of CRSP, CSP or other HS&E designation is beneficial, but not required
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of common commercial construction practices, techniques and equipment including experience at the worksite level
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Able to influence work planning and execution by field/operations staff as it relates to achieving HS&E objectives
  • Thorough knowledge of local government Health & Safety Acts, policies, regulations, codes and practices as they apply to the commercial and light industrial construction industry
  • Is an active leader in promoting HS&E processes and programs towards exceeding HS&E goals
  • Supports and promotes Ledcor’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success
  • Knowledge of hazardous material recognition, controls or abatement and experience in general occupational hygiene principles is preferred
  • Self-directed leader with superior communication, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Experience in conducting training and formal presentations to audiences of various sizes and types
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic keyboarding skills are required
  • This position requires the candidate to possess a valid driver’s license with a reasonably infraction-free driving record
  • This position requires the successful completion of a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening test
