Edmonton to Fort McMurray, Alberta
In 2007 Ledcor was awarded two of the four mainline construction spreads making up the Enbridge Waupisoo Pipeline Project.
One spread involved 70 kilometers (43 miles) of 30-inch diameter pipeline in the congested areas of northeast Edmonton, which required an open-cut crossing of the North Saskatchewan River. The other spread involved 94 kilometers (58 miles) of 30-inch diameter pipeline constructed over the winter months near Fort McMurray, Alberta. At the height of construction, there were upwards of 450 and 350 crew members respectively.
This project presented numerous challenges including rugged terrain, difficult watercourse crossings, permit delays and wildlife work windows. Working closely with the client, we prevailed over the challenges, and the project was successfully completed with no lost time or injuries experienced.
