Red Deer County Maintenance

Alberta Transportation

Red Deer, AB

In 2018, Ledcor was awarded a second consecutive 5-year maintenance contract with the County of Red Deer, Alberta that began in 2013. The contract includes maintenance and repairs of over 575 lane-kilometres of paved roads within the County’s boundaries in Central Alberta. The road network under this contract includes a number of key commuter and collector roads serving as local strategic routes interconnecting with the provincial highway networks, including the Highway 2 North-South transportation corridor.

The maintenance contract recognizes Ledcor’s nearly 25 years of successful highway maintenance contracting in Alberta. Year-round maintenance responsibilities include regular road inspections and condition reporting, sign maintenance and emergency response. Winter maintenance responsibilities include snow removal and ice control. Seasonal maintenance work includes key maintenance activities such as grading and maintenance of gravel road surfaces, crack sealing, spray patching, pavement patching, line painting and pavement marking, drainage maintenance (including ditching, culverts and catch basins), vegetation control (including brushing and mowing), bridge inspection and maintenance, sign and safety device maintenance, incident response and emergency traffic control.

Ledcor works closely with the County to maximize efficiencies, provide recommendations on short-term and long-term maintenance strategies and serve as the trusted first point of contact for local stakeholders.
