Highway 22:30

Alberta Transportation

Drayton Valley, AB

In 2019 Ledcor completed 38 kilometers of highway rehabilitation and improvement on Hwy 22 from Entwistle to Drayton Valley for long term client Alberta Transportation.

This multi-disciplinary infrastructure project consisted of lowering the grade on a hill and constructing additional passing lanes in both directions to improve safety and traffic efficiency, cold milling and asphalt overlay, bridge inspection and rehabilitation, intersection improvements, streetlight installation, guardrail, sign improvements and line painting.

To surface the highway, Ledcor used 62,500 tonnes of gravel base course and 141,606 tonnes of asphalt concrete pavement. The asphalt pavement included almost 30,000 tonnes of recycled asphalt pavement which was milled and recycled from the existing roadway surface. Recycled asphalt pavement provides an environmentally friendly and economical option for a more sustainable roadway rehabilitation program.

The project was turned over to Alberta Transportation on time in September 2019.
