The Canada Post Toronto West Delivery Centre represents the consolidation of a number of regional post offices into one 5100 m
2 (55,000 ft
2) facility.
Constructed for the Canada Post Corporation in Toronto, Ontario, the project featured EPDM roofing material (an insulating and waterproof material) and concrete paving, lowering energy consumption and overall operating costs. The parking lot area was constructed with recycled crushed concrete in order to minimize the carbon footprint of the building process. For maximum user control, the building’s air systems, heating and cooling equipment, automatic doors, overhead doors, air curtains, and exterior and interior lighting are all controlled through a single, innovative automation system.
The demanding nature of this project required Ledcor to take on many roles throughout the construction process. During pre-construction Ledcor acted as the construction manager, which required a highly collaborative relationship with the client, consultants, and subcontractors. Ledcor then took on the role of general contractor where we were able to complete the project on time and on budget.
