Completed in 2009, CrossIron Mills was the first fully enclosed mall to be built in Alberta in over 20 years. Built for Ivanhoé Cambridge, the structure required an incredible 38 acres of drywall and over 500 kilometers (310 miles) of electrical wiring.
The mall features over 200 retail locations and 17 anchor stores, and contains a number of innovative sustainable construction features. The rooftop of the mall harvests rainwater for landscape irrigation and also includes a reflective exterior membrane to reduce interior cooling requirements.
The project is so large, a single pass around the mall is two kilometers (1.2 miles). This presented many logistical challenges throughout the project. However, our seasoned management teams skillfully coordinated construction, completing the project on time and on budget.
