Today we observe National Day of Mourning in Canada and Workers’ Memorial Day in the United States.
On this day, we remember and honour those who have lost their lives, and those injured or made ill from the workplace. It is also a day to renew our commitment to improving health and safety in the workplace.
The work we do and the services we provide have inherent risks with the potential to cause life-altering injuries and fatalities. We owe it to ourselves, our families, and our co-workers to understand the hazards of our tasks, follow processes, intervene, ask questions if we’re not sure or see something unsafe, and ensure we are physically and mentally fit for work.
