Southwest Calgary Ring Road Major Project Milestone

On Saturday, October 2nd, traffic opened on the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR) to mark a major project milestone on one of Ledcor’s most expansive projects. After more than five years of construction, this $1.4 billion 31 km (19 mi) road project surrounds a quarter of Calgary, Alberta. In partnership with Kiewit and Graham, the SWCRR was built to accommodate traffic volumes that are projected for the next 30 years. The roadway is estimated to carry 80,000 and 100,000 vehicles per day.
The SWCRR connects Highway 8 and Macleod Trail SE and including reconstruction of Glenmore Trail from Sarcee Trail to east of 37th Street.
Brad Mytko, Senior Vice President, Infrastructure, attended the opening ceremony last weekend and shared:
“Over the past five years, our team has overcome many challenges and accomplished things that, at one time, seemed impossible. We filled several key positions throughout the project and provided strong leadership, enhanced our skillsets and developed lasting friendships along the way. I look forward to completing many more projects in the years to come, and I am so proud of our Ledcor team. I would like to thank everyone who was involved with the project, including their families, for their commitment to delivering the project safely and on time.”
