Job Summary

The Senior Labour Relations Advisor contributes to the Industrial Relations (IR) team and is responsible for all aspects of the IR function. The position ensures that the service and programs provided to the various divisions / workers are meaningful and valued, while sustaining the company’s competitive advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with internal clients to provide tactical guidance on all Industrial Relations issues
  • Interfaces with Union and external labour lawyer as required
  • Provides analysis and comparison of Collective Agreements; specifically language, wages, premiums and benefits to determine the IR market place
  • Conducts and assists in Chief Spokesperson responsibilities for negotiations/collective bargaining as assigned
  • Provides support during Collective Agreement renewals
  • Responsible for the administration of the Collective Agreements throughout Ledcor Divisions
  • Establishes IR strategies and performs necessary research as assigned
  • Oversees external & internal wage and benefit survey’s involving CLAC workers/employees
  • Supervises the pre-negotiation preparation research and proposal costing to discuss & obtain leadership approval, provides recommendation and coordinates acceptance with clients
  • Prepares and posts negotiation summaries/bulletins and associated costing for Leadership review
  • Researches, investigates and conducts grievance resolutions, maintains Grievance Library and status reports
  • Responsible for Collective Agreements and distribution to the appropriate parties
  • Oversees the employment verification requests for current employees, former employees and banking institutions
  • Delivers various training programs as required
  • Mentors and supports fellow IR team members
  • Other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Business (Industrial Relations, Human Resources, other related fields)
  • 5 to 8 years experience in a related industry preferred
  • Specialized IR course work would be considered an asset
  • Strong customer focus and team player
  • Excellent problem solving skills, strong analytical and research skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong business accumen and industry knowledge
  • Excellent computer/software skills are required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to network with extensive practical knowledge and expertise with all types of IR contacts.
  • Self-starter with high initiative
