For a number of years Ledcor has been on the forefront of sustainable building construction. Since that time, our employees have taken a keen interest in green technologies and in understanding the industry guidelines for what constitutes a “green building”. Numerous employees throughout our 14 offices have received their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design/LEED® Accredited Professional status. Ledcor was part of a team involved in the production of an 80-page document Green Construction – introducing Green Buildings & LEED® to Contractors. The objective was to make LEED® a part of normal business practice and this manual has been adopted by the Green Building Council for Contractors.
Our first foray into green technology began with breaking ground in 1997 (pre-LEED®) for the internationally acclaimed Revenue Canada office. This award-winning building exceeded standard building code requirements for energy conservation by as much as 30 per cent.
